A quarto edition of 154 sonnets by Shakespeare was published in London in 1609, originally titled Shake-speares Sonnets. The lyrical poems often dwell on the themes of love, beauty and the impermanence of life. In 2012, English conductor Robert Hollingworth set these love poems to music and the album Shakespeare: The Sonnets was released on St. George’s Day. Much like his plays, Shakespeare’s timeless sonnets continue to be widely read and admired, and have been translated into every major language.
