Kabir
Kabir, believed to have been born in 1398, remains an enigmatic figure. Some legends describe his origin on a lotus in Varanasi from Satloka (“World of Truth”), while others say he was the abandoned child of a pilgrim, adopted by a Muslim couple, Niru and Nima. Raised amidst Hindu and Muslim faiths, he studied under Bhakti poet-saint Swami Ramananda and Sufi pir, Shaikh Taqqi. Influencing Sikhism, his works are in the Guru Granth Sahib and a sect, Kabir Panth. Kabir criticized organized religion, caste systems, and idol worship. His legendary death in Maghar sparked a division between Hindu and Muslim traditions, revealing only flowers, shared graciously by both sides.
