Katherine Mansfield
Kathleen Mansfield Murry (née Beauchamp) was born on 14 October 1888 in Wellington, New Zealand. She moved to London for her education, where she would remain for most of her life.
She and her partner, John Middleton Murry, ran the avant-garde magazine Rhythm, which attracted worthy contributors like Walter de la Mare and D. H. Lawrence. Her primary medium of choice was the modernist short story.
After being diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis, Mansfield travelled widely with her intimate friend, Ida Baker, in search of a cure. However, her health continued to deteriorate, and, on 9 January 1923, Mansfield died.
