Sumantra Bose
Sumantra Bose is one of the world’s foremost experts on the Kashmir conflict. A comparative political scientist, he is the author of eight books including Kashmir: Roots of Conflict, Paths to Peace (2003), Contested Lands: Israel-Palestine, Kashmir, Bosnia, Cyprus and Sri Lanka (2007), Transforming India: Challenges to the World’s Largest Democracy (2013), and Secular States, Religious Politics: India, Turkey, and the Future of Secularism (2018). Born and raised in Kolkata, Bose received his PhD in political science from Columbia University in 1998 and taught at the London School of Economics as Chair of International and Comparative Politics for two decades. Sumantra Bose’s next book, The Modi Era: India and the Story of a Democracy in Eclipse, will be published in 2025.
