W.B Yeats
William Butler Yeats was born on 13 June 1865 in Sandymount,
County Dublin, Ireland. He was the first of six children and soon after his birth, the family moved to his mother's paternal home in County
Sligo, Ireland. The natural lush beauty of Irish countryside against the
backdrop of the sea with mountains in the distance captured young
Yeats’ heart. His love for his native home is reflected in his poems. Yeats also developed a great fascination for the mystical,
another aspect seen frequently in his early works. In 1923, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. Yeats continued
writing poetry and plays well into old age. He died on 28 January 1939 at the age of seventy-three.
