
Synopsis
The Railway Children is E. Nesbit's most universally loved novel. It follows three young children – Roberta, Peter and Phyllis – whose happy, comfortable lives with their parents are upturned when their father, a high-ranking bureaucrat, suddenly disappears overnight. The children are forced to move to a house near a railway station with their mother, a hardworking writer who must now find a way to support her family. As the siblings attempt to solve the mystery of what happened to their father, they embark on thrilling adventures, in the course of which they make new friends who change their lives forever.
