Synopsis
A Little Princess tells the story of Sara Crewe, a girl who has lived a comfortable life in colonial India as the apple of her wealthy father’s eye. When she is sent to a boarding school in England, her journey takes a new turn: she must contend with unforeseen challenges and find her place in a land full of strangers.
Like many of Hodgson’s novels, A Little Princess is a tale about the power of imagination and friendship, and the unpredictable nature of fate. It has been widely translated and adapted – including a play by Hodgson herself – and remains popular among young readers.
