Synopsis
Characterized by the simplicity and lyricism that Rabindranath Tagore was known for, Gitanjali is a transcendental poetic journey. The verses overflow with devotion and adoration for a universal higher power. Tagore expresses a longing for closeness with God, which he believes can be achieved through a deep connection with nature and one’s fellow human beings.
Gitanjali remains Tagore’s most widely disseminated work in the English language today – though it has since been translated into numerous languages around the world.
