Synopsis
Kidnapped is an adventure novel that is as vast in its scope as the seventy-word title under which it was originally published. Based on an assassination that took place after the Jacobite Rising of 1745, the novel fictionalizes historic figures to tell the story of the seventeen-year-old David Balfour, who finds himself caught in the crossfire between the Scottish Highlanders and the English after his parents' death. In the course of his journey to claim his rightful inheritance, he travels far and wide and goes up against his villanous uncle.
